Why do some Hispanic waitresses do this?

If you go to a Mexican restaurant and you're Hispanic, they approach you in spanish as if you should speak their language? I'm sorry but it makes me mad when my family busted their to speak the language of the country we live in and we are treated like we are pretending to not know Spanish. Some of us really dont and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just sick of this culture believing that America needs to cater to them because they don't want to learn English and penalize Hispanic Americans who only know English. That's so backwards! You dont see Italian Americans doing this. Many do not speak Italian! I'm not at all saying it is wrong to know Spanish in addition to English in America, but to be rude and expect people to know Spanish is tacky!
