Crackling/creaking in throat?

So I went to the doc. yesterday, and I have bronchitis. They gave me a prescription for antibiotics & a cough medicine with codene. My problem is that my chest & throat are making a crackling sound & it's driving me crazy! Does anyone know how to make it stop? Serious answers only, please. Thanks in advance.
