If man was given free will (according to the Bible) then how can people sue God or claim that God made thi?

In the book of Genisis man was granted free will after the tree of life was violated, which meant that anything taking place hence forth was an act of man, not of God. Mind you I am not questioning the validity of the Bible, which itself may have been written merely to give meaning to the unexplained. But based on its principles man was granted free will, meaning that all God can do is put people on earth and hope that they will make the right choices. But God also has no control over what people do or the choices they make. So when things such as terrorist attacks, aults, or even good things such as random acts of kindness happen, it is not because God "made" them happen. It is because people have chosen to perform these acts, good or bad, out of their own free will. With that said, how can it supposedly be legal to sue God for "making" things happen (as was done by a man in Nebraska), or how can people say that God made things happen?
