Doesn't making laws that say that people can't have guns or any other weapons of any sort on school grounds empower people who don't abide by them by allowing them to take advantage of the fact that their victims are completely unarmed?

Gypsy, I whole-heartedly agree. I think if we all did in politics what we do in every other facet of our lives, we'd be better off. We don't holler at each other on the job, right? When our Pastor says something we disagree with we don't call him a racist or a commie, do we? No, we always step over to the side, and talk it out. I can't tell you how many times I've had to sit down with my old boss and hash out our differences. Where there times when it was heated or driven by anger? Sure! but we were always respectful. In Church, there have been times when the preacher said something I thought was a misinterperetation of the Scripture, and I met with him over coffee and discussed it rationally and referred back to the chapter and didn't just quote one little verse, but the whole chapter, so as not to take it out of context. You see, that's what hasn't been done. We have been led around like sheep by the two parties, and pitted against one another in a red/blue dogfight that never ends. Why do you think Rush Limbaugh and Keith Olberman and Sean Hannity and Rachel Maddow have so many listeners and viewers? They DIRECTLY oppose one another, and it's no accident.

Physics "laws" don't get "repealed." Smaller objects 'appear" to get smaller as the observer moves away because the eye has more to take in in comparison to the object. If the eye would be so close to the object that nothing else would be visible, the object could appear to be enormous. But if we know (say, from having examined the object previously) what the "real" size of the object is, we would understand that it was simply bcause the object was up close. If we were unaware of the real dimensions of an object that suddenly appears in front of our eyes, we couldn't tell how far away it is, simply from our view. We also judge distance using our binocular vision, which gives us depth perception. All animals eyes work basically the same way - light rays coming into the lens are focused onto the retina through the activity of the eye's convex lens. Many animals have eyes on each side of their head and can never have binocular vision and, so, judge distance the same way we do, through experience with (or lack thereof) the object.

There isn't much to do right next to the airport unless you play golf. You could exit the airport, make a left on Lakewood Blvd and go north about a mile and a half to the Lakewood Center Mall. It isn't the greatest shopping mall in the world, but you could kill time window shopping and grabbing a bit to eat at one of the many nearby restaurants.
