MARINE VISION HELP!!!?

Hello there, I am 17 years old enlisting into the Marines at the age of 18, I am physically and mentally fit to join. The only drawback is that my uncorrected vision is crappy. I have an astigmatism. I have not done MEPS yet, but plan on it soon. I am 20/15 with my contacts on. Here is the drawback. My prescription is -8.50 diopters which is over the MEPS rules. My recruiter says im fine, because i am 20/20 corrected so i shouldn't worry about it. I want to join infantry as my mos. Will they catch this at MEPS and DQ me, will i be able to get a waiver at all? Can i join infantry too aswell? As you can see i have a lot of questions which need to be answered. I am really stressing out about this and need all the advise i can get. I am fully prepared to wear BCGS during boot and gles as long as i can become a marine. Thanks for any advise! =D
